Akamai contracts with 3rd party data centers for about 8 7 % of its network assets. The remaining 1 1 % is through free space and power, carrier partners, the Akamai Accelerated Network Partners also known as AANP's and other telecom partnerships. The remaining ~ 2 % of company operations can be found spread across ~60 Akamai offices. All of Akamai's office and data center space is 100% t hird-party operated with the exception of our Akamai Owned Data Centers (AODC's) in two locations in the United States where we have direct operational control. By adopting the operational control approach, we are able to take further accountability for our environmental impacts, even in colocation spaces where we do not have the financial control to impact the operations and facility decisions. We take responsiblity for our network assets and the impacts we have from operating in third party spaces. The operational control approach allows us to collaborate effectively with our data center vendors. |
