Akamai's efficiency program is a comprehensive approach that looks for ways to continuously improve the company's software, hardware, and physical data center facilities to reduce environmental impact. In software, Akamai emphasizes optimizing code efficiency, reducing the processing power needed for content delivery, and minimizing energy consumption. Our hardware strategy involves deploying energy-efficient servers and exploring ways to reduce waste, specifically through reduced power usage. Across all our efficiency work and the areas addressed here, our teams at Akamai are constantly looking for improvements that contribute to a more efficient global platform. This project addressed the disk utilization in our servers by reclaiming 12% of unused disk space across our delivery network. |
